About Me and Mercers

Welcome to Let's Talk About Floors!

I am the granddaughter of the founders of Mercer Carpet One Floor and Home of central Maryland, USA.

So, I've grown up surrounded by flooring and have noticed that I've learned a lot of things that most people are confused about at best. That's why I started this blog.  There are just too many myths to debunk, too many inspiring room scenes to share, and too many great floors out there not to share!

In December of 2008 I started working at the family business full time and am a Flooring Design Consultant. This gives me access to even great ideas, useful information, and I hope you enjoy!  Please let me know if you have any questions I can help with at Katlin@MercerCarpetOne.com!

Now, so you know what I mean about Mercer Floor and Home:

~ We're a 3rd generation family business (my grandparents have retired and my parents are currently running things)

~ We've been in business for over 1/2 a century

~ We continuously handpick products to keep our selection up to date for the homes and business of central Maryland (Carrol, Howard, Frederick, Baltimore, Montgomery, Anne Arundel counties and Baltimore City)

~ Our installers are all in-house and master certified; we want to be able to trust them to work in our homes before they work in yours (hence our Life of the Floor Installation Guarantee!)

~ Over 80% of our products are Made in the USA (many of them even more local than that!)

~ We have a wide selection of eco-friendly flooring options (cork, bamboo, wool, recycled, and so forth)

~ We focus on the entire picture, to get you the absolute best fit for your lifestyle and fashion

And there are a lot other things I can say, but no need to make you read a bunch unless you want to.  If you'd like to learn more check out the following links or email me!

  1. I am a fan of your blog. The tips you've provided are really helpful. And you certainly also bring humor in your posts. My favorite's "[Did you Know] Carpet Has a Perm?" :)

  2. Thanks for commenting John! I'm glad you enjoy my posts and find them helpful. Thankfully the 'perm' analogy really helps everyone picture how a carpet performs. :)
